President George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500
Dear President Bush:
We, or our loved ones, have been injured or killed as a result of medical malpractice or unsafe drugs. We are coming from around the country to Washington, D.C. on February 8th and 9th. We would like to meet with you to talk about our experiences and the harm that would be done by your proposal to cap damages and otherwise limit the rights of people injured or killed by medical malpractice or the reprehensible acts of drug companies.
The many times you have referred to medical malpractice lawsuits as “junk” or “frivolous” have been very painful to us. We ask that you give us a chance to speak with you about the devastation that medical malpractice and drug injuries can cause. We are proud of our constitutional rights, as Americans, to have access to a civil justice system where a jury of our peers can hold responsible someone who wrongfully injured us or killed or injured our loved ones.
Many of us have asked to meet with you before, some numerous times over the past several years. But none of us has heard back from you.
We once again request some time with you to discuss the devastation your proposal will cause many families. Lives literally depend on your understanding the patients’ perspective.
Please contact Geoff Boehm at 646-522-0435 or geoff@centerjd.org to let us know when and where we can meet with you. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Diana Artemis
